[Comunicazione.dottorandi] Three-Minute-Thesis competition 2026 - Call for participation

Gentili Dottorandi,

anche quest’anno l’Università di Pavia prende parte alla *Three-Minute-Thesis
(3MT) competition*, organizzata dagli Atenei facenti parte del Coimbra
Group (https://www.coimbra-group.eu/).

La 3MT competition è un evento in cui *gli studenti di dottorato delle
Università aderenti presentano i risultati delle loro ricerche in 3 minuti*,
in lingua inglese, con il supporto di una singola slide e utilizzando un
linguaggio che renda la presentazione accessibile a un pubblico ampio e
variegato (vedi

informazioni).

*I dottorandi interessati a candidarsi per la partecipazione all’evento
dovranno compilare il seguente modulo:

il 16 febbraio.*

*Possono partecipare alla competizione gli iscritti a corsi di dottorato
del secondo e terzo anno che abbiano già raggiunto risultati significativi
nella loro ricerca; sono ammesse anche candidature di dottorandi in attesa
di esame finale, purché non abbiano ancora discusso la tesi alla data
dell’evento a UNIPV, che si terrà indicativamente nella seconda metà del
mese di febbraio.*

La competizione si divide in *due fasi, una locale e una finale*. Nel corso
dell’evento locale, ogni università aderente dovrà selezionare il filmato
migliore (vincitore locale) e inviarlo alla giuria nominata dal Coimbra
Group. Gli atenei membri del Coimbra Group saranno chiamati a votare i tre
migliori filmati tra tutti i vincitori locali. Il vincitore finale della
3MT competition sarà selezionato e premiato da un’apposita giuria nel corso
dell’Assemblea generale del Coimbra Group che si terrà il 18 giugno 2026 a
Granada.

Il primo classificato sarà premiato con la somma di 2.000 €; secondo e
terzo classificato riceveranno un premio di 1.500€.

*SELEZIONE LOCALE UNIPV*

*La selezione locale del miglior filmato *di dottorandi UNIPV da inviare al
Coimbra Group si terrà in Aula Magna nella seconda metà del mese di
febbraio, nel tardo pomeriggio. *L’evento sarà aperto alla comunità
accademica pavese*. I dottorandi che avranno aderito all’evento si
“sfideranno” presentando in tre minuti i risultati della loro ricerca e,
con il supporto tecnico del Servizio Innovazione Didattica e Comunicazione
Digitale, saranno realizzati brevi filmati di ciascuna presentazione. Il
filmato che verrà inviato alla successiva fase di selezione verrà scelto
dal Comitato Organizzatore, supportato dai voti del pubblico presente che
potrà votare la performance ritenuta migliore.

Seguirà un piccolo rinfresco per tutti i partecipanti e il pubblico
presente.

Dear PhD Students,

We are happy to announce that the University of Pavia is taking part in the
2026 edition of the *Three-Minute-Thesis (3MT) competition*, organized by
the universities that are members of the Coimbra Group
(*https://www.coimbra-group.eu/
<https://www.coimbra-group.eu/>*).

The 3MT is an academic competition that challenges PhD students to *describe
the results of their research to a general audience in English in three
minutes, using a single slide and *a language that makes the presentation
accessible to a wide and varied audience (see

*PhD students from UNIPV are invited to prepare a single slide and a short
speech *(max 3 minutes), in English, to present the results of their
research. *PhD students interested in participating must apply via Google
form at *https://forms.gle/auFiGpx5z2ss7Dw68* by February 16.*

*Applications are welcome from second and third year PhD students who have
already achieved significant results in their research; applications from
PhD students awaiting the final exam are also admitted, provided they
defend their thesis after the date of the local event at UNIPV, which will
take place in the second half of February.*

The competition is divided into *two steps, a local one and a final one*.
During the local events, each participating university must select the best
video (local winner) and send it to a jury appointed by the Coimbra group.
The universities of the Coimbra Group will be called to vote for the three
best videos among all the local winners. The final winner of the 3MT
competition will be selected and awarded by the jury during the General
Assembly of the Coimbra Group, which will be held on June 18th, 2025 in
Granada.

The winner of the final will be awarded a prize of € 2,000; the two runner
ups will be awarded € 1,500 each.

*LOCAL SELECTION AT UNIPV*

*The local event at UNIPV will be held in the second half of February, *in
the late afternoon, at the Aula Magna of the University. On that occasion, *the
best video of UNIPV PhD students who participate in the competition will be
selected, *to be sent to the Coimbra Group jury*. The event will be in
presence *and open to the Pavia academic community. PhD students will
"challenge" each other by presenting the results of their research in three
minutes and, with the technical support of the University staff, short
videos of each presentation will be made. The best video will be chosen by
the organizing Committee, supported by the votes of the audience. A light
refreshment will follow.
