We are pleased to inform you that Austin Buchanan (Oklahoma State
University) will give an informal seminar at the University of Pavia on
Tuesday 14th June, 11:30am - 12:30pm, both in-presence (room C12/C13,
Dipartimento di Matematica "Felice Casorati”, Via Ferrata 5, 27100, Pavia)
and online.

Title:
Tips for PhD students

Abstract:
This informal talk provides tips for PhD students. Topics include taking
classes, conducting research, writing papers, maintaining an online
presence, and avoiding common pitfalls. The talk is based on personal
experience as a former PhD student in operations research and industrial
engineering (in the USA), although the tips may apply more broadly to other
quantitative disciplines.
