*Some Initial Investigations and Analyses on the Earthquake Data in Taiwan*

Abstract: This talk will focus on some initial investigations and analyses
on the earthquake data in Taiwan, which is collected and managed by the
Institute of Earth Science, Academia Sinica. Four potential projects are
resulted: (1) the analysis of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) signals to
develop an early earthquake alarm system; (2) the spatial-temporal data
analysis and clustering on earthquake occurrences in Taiwan; (3) the
modeling on the relationship between earthquake occurrences and seasonal
trend of underground water levels of surrounding areas; and (4) the phrase
transition model for the prediction of landslide occurrences using
environmental factors and earthquake-related information. All studies are
currently ongoing and preliminary, so discussions and suggestions are very
welcome.
