terrà un seminario dal titolo: Tropicalizing moduli spaces and applications.
Abstract:
In the last few years, it has been understood that nice moduli spaces can be “tropicalized” via modular maps which allow to study many properties of the original spaces by looking at their tropical counterpart. In particular, following the breakthrough work by Chan Galatius and Payne in the case of the moduli space of curves, it is often possible to compute part of the cohomology of the original space by computing the homology of the link of the tropicalized moduli space. Often, a first step is to give a tropical interpretation to combinatorial data used to compactify. In the talk, I will try to explain this interplay in the case of (universal) Jacobians and, time permitting, the moduli space of abelian varieties.

terra’ un seminario dal titolo: (Non-)extension of pluricanonical forms in positive characteristic.
Abstract: A famous theorem by Siu states that plurigenera are deformation invariant for families of smooth complex algebraic varieties. This result, and the techniques involved in its proof, have had a big impact in various developments of higher dimensional algebraic geometry. In this talk we will address a positive characteristic analogue of the aforementioned result: first we will see how to recover an "up to p-power" version of Siu's theorem assuming the MMP and Abundance conjecture, extending a result of Nakayama. Then we will present some examples showing a strong failure of invariance of plurigenera in positive characteristic. Finally, I will explain how to recover Siu's theorem for deformation of good minimal models whose Iitaka fibration satisfies certain "ordinarity" assumptions.
