They act as gateways for the transfer of momentum, heat, and gases, playing a key role in everything from climate science to engineering applications. </span></font><span style="font-family:NimbusRomNo9L;font-size:14.666667px">One of the most striking examples is the exchange of CO₂ between the ocean and the atmosphere. This process, which happens daily, is heavily influenced by the behavior of bubbles and droplets in turbulent flows. </span></p><p style="margin:0px;font-stretch:normal;line-height:normal;font-size-adjust:none;font-kerning:auto;font-variant-alternates:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-feature-settings:normal"><span style="font-family:NimbusRomNo9L;font-size:14.666667px">The size of these bubbles, the way they interact with the surrounding fluid, and the properties of their surfaces all determine how much gas is absorbed or released.</span></p><p style="margin:0px;font-stretch:normal;line-height:normal;font-size-adjust:none;font-kerning:auto;font-variant-alternates:normal;font-variant-ligatures:normal;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-feature-settings:normal"><font face="NimbusRomNo9L"><span style="font-size:14.666667px">In this talk, Prof. Alfredo Soldati (TU Wien) will take us on a journey through the history and science of tracking interfaces in turbulent flows.
