The program will cover the physiological bases of cardiac action potential generation, the role of ion channels, and how these mechanisms can be mathematically modeled to simulate cardiac cell behavior. The course will integrate theoretical lectures with hands-on computational modeling activities using programming tools such as MATLAB.

Duration: 16 hours (4 CFU)

Location: Sala Biblioteca, Dipartimento di Matematica

More information in the attached file.

To register, please fill out your name at https://forms.gle/4n6GKC1tTWoTjP348

Schedule:

10/04/2025 h16:00-18:00 - Lesson 1: Basic Principles of Cardiac Anatomy and Physiology

30/04/2025 h16:00-18:00 Lesson 2: Basic Principles of the Cardiac Action Potential

08/05/2025 h16:00-18:00 Lesson 3: Basic Principles of Patch-Clamp Experiments

15/05/2025 h16:00-18:00 Lesson 4: Ion Channels Gating: Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) and Markov Formulations

22/05/2025 h16:00-18:00 Lesson 5: Modeling Cardiac Ion Channels: Depolarizing Currents

29/05/2025 h16:00-18:00 Lesson 6: Modeling Cardiac Ion Channels: Repolarizing Currents

05/06/2025 h16:00-18:00 Lesson 7: Modeling Calcium Cycling and EC Coupling

12/06/2025 h16:00-18:00 Lesson 8: Modeling Cardiac Ventricular Action Potential
