[Collegio.phd_mne] PhD in Micro- and Nano-Electronics - yearly student assessment

Dear all,

on *Monday, September 28, Tuesday, September 29, and Wednesday, 
September 30, 2026*, the Evaluation Committee of the PhD Course in 
Micro- and Nano-Electronics will meet for the annual assessment of the 
activities of the first-, second-, and third-year students. The meetings 
will take place in the Magenta seminar room. A Zoom link will be set up 
and circulated before the meetings for students and Committee members 
who cannot attend in person.

In view of the Evaluation Committee meetings, the students are required 
to comply with the following requirements.

*First- and second-year students*are required to provide an *annual 
activity report*describing the main results of the research activity 
carried out during the last year. The report *must not exceed four 
pages, plus the cover page and the list of educational activities 
("consuntivo dei crediti acquisiti")*carried out during the last year, 
together with the credits acquired during the previous year (for 
second-year students). The report must also include a *thesis title, 
which may be provisional* at this stage. The report must be validated by 
the student's supervisor.

A copy of the report in PDF format must be sent by email to me 
(*lodovico.ratti a unipv.it <mailto:lodovico.ratti a unipv.it>*) and to 
Alice Albini (*alice.albini a unipv.it <mailto:alice.albini a unipv.it>*) by 
*Monday, September 21*.

For the report, you are invited to use one of the two templates (Word or 
LaTeX) included in the attached zip archive (*templates.zip*). Please 
follow the instructions provided in the templates.

*Second- and third-year students*are required to prepare an *oral 
presentation*on their research activity, to be given during the 
Evaluation Committee meeting. Second-year students will have *20 
minutes*, including a 5-minute Q&A session, while third-year students 
will have *30 minutes*, including a 5-minute Q&A session.

Presentations will be given according to the schedule in the attached 
document, which contains the agenda of the Committee meetings 
(*AGENDA-PhD-MNE_sep2026.pdf*). The document also includes the list of 
first-year students who are required to submit an activity report.

*Third-year students applying for admission to the final PhD 
examination*should also submit an *abstract of their thesis manuscript, 
including the thesis title*, to the Committee, together with *the list 
of educational activities carried out during the last year and the 
credits acquired during the previous years*.

A copy of the abstract and the list of acquired credits must be sent to 
me (*lodovico.ratti a unipv.it <mailto:lodovico.ratti a unipv.it>*) and to 
Alice Albini (*alice.albini a unipv.it <mailto:alice.albini a unipv.it>*) by 
*Monday, September 21*.

To summarize:

  * *first-year students*: annual activity report, including a (possibly
    provisional) thesis title + list of educational activities
  * *second-year students*: annual activity report, including a
    (possibly provisional) thesis title + list of educational activities
    + oral presentation (*20 min: 15 min presentation + 5 min Q&A*)
  * *third-year students*: thesis abstract, including the thesis title +
    list of educational activities + oral presentation (*30 min: 25 min
    presentation + 5 min Q&A*)
